Are you ready for some football?

First things first…it is time to announce the three winners for the Sasquatch give-away! They are Judy, Dani and Tailitu! Congratulations to one and all. For those who are wondering what the correct answer is…HA you’ll have to read the book to figure that one out.

I've been very humbled by the success and support I've gotten for both Hawk ‘n’ Harley and Sasquatch. I truly never expected such nice comments from readers and wonderful reviews. I am rarely speechless, but there have been times when I just don’t know what else to say except thank you. So again, thank you!

For those of you who follow me on Facebook, you would have seen several posts about the Plot Stallions that have been tromping down a field. A football field to be exact. Why you may ask? It is because it is almost time for American football to start up, and I can’t wait. Of course, if you've not figured it out yet, I am a huge football fan. I do love my American football, but I also enjoy Rugby and can’t get enough Aussie football. Love it all. I mean, what’s not to like, huh? Big hot sweaty men pounding on each other, breathing heavily into each other’s faces, while testosterone pulses through their veins. Yep, gotta love it.

So there is your hint folks. The WIP is going to have a bit of a football theme. I like to think of it as a little warm up to the upcoming football season here. The only other hint I’m going to give is that it does have a HEA ending, but not at all what you might thing. Yeah, I love a good twist.

A quick side note: Thanks for the well wishes for my friend here that I've been helping out. She is making a speedy recovery, although not as quick as she would like, of course. Yes, I am still in Florida for the time being. I am not missing Atlanta in the least. I love it here and I’m looking forward to living here in the very near future. I just with that it was sooner rather than later. The eye candy here is…plentiful

Well people, that’s it for this week. If I plan on getting that WIP finished in time I can’t spend on day on here now can I?

      Thanks everyone!

Are you ready for some more...Biker Meat?

Yet another week in sunny Florida and all I can say is that each and every day I find it easier to see myself living here. Now I only wish that I could just get the move over with and just be here. Why am I telling you this? Because, I truly do write about what I see and experience. Ever heard the old adage ‘Write what you know’? That’s me.

(Oh and by the way, if you make it to the end of this blog posting, there is a little contest give-away surprise.)

Of course there are times when I reach back into what is left of the memory banks and pull from there, but I tend to be, like most men, very visual and tactile. I need to see, smell, hear and taste what I am going to write, at least to some degree. I do have quite the vivid imagination, but for me to get it and get it right, I need to have all the senses firing off. So, for me to be here and see so many things that spark my interest will only enhance my writing, I hope.

Sometimes when I write I can close my eyes, get a visual, open my eyes again and it is like a movie playing in front of me. That is when I know I’m in the zone and I am going to do some good work. That happened some time ago and the result was a story call Sasquatch. This was one of those times that I looked back and remembered a hot dry summer in Georgia and stopping by a little hole-in-the-wall place, out in what was the sticks, but now a bustling suburb of Atlanta.

As a young gay man in the 80’s the last place I needed to be was in some redneck biker bar, but there I was. I have to admit, I fell in love with the place and this is where I, and now you, get to meet Sasquatch. Yep, it’s a new release coming to you…today!

Let me tell you now, there is a lot of me in this story. Of course a much younger me, who experienced and learned a lot of things during that long, hot, dry summer in Georgia. That also happened to be the same summer that someone tried to use my head for batting practice, a lovely experience of gay bashing near Piedmont Park in Atlanta. Why did I bring that up? Well because it was then I learned that the big, bad biker guys didn’t like other people who went out of their way to beat people who were different, especially their token gay drinkin’ buddy. It is because of that understanding that I view bikers in a much different light than most I think. Now, when I see a big bad biker dude, I can’t help but smile and think to myself Just another misunderstood teddy-bear

My hope with this story is that perhaps, just maybe, others will start to see some of these Harley riding men and women in a new light. Where they are crass, they are also tender. Where they can be loud, they can also whisper sweet nothings in your ear…just before they pound you into the mattress!

Now for the kudos. First off I need to thank K.c. Wells for pushing me to be better and to also get me off my ass and do this big scary self-publishing thing. She is also the editor for Sasquatch and Hawk ‘n’ Harley. If it wasn't for this talented author, who also just happens to have two books in the top ten m/m romance genre on Amazon currently, I’d be sitting here frustrated beyond belief. Patience is not one of my virtues. Kudos to Alex Corza who did an amazing job on the cover for this release. She nailed this one. A big hug and a sloppy lick to Will Parkinson, who has become a good friend, even though he is a huge pain in the ass. He is another one who keeps telling me I can do this.

Now for the contest give-away part. I will give away three copies to those who can tell me the real name of Hawk in Hawk ‘n’ Harley. If there are more than three correct answers I will have a friend draw from a hat the names of the winners! That is three chances to win a copy of Sasquatch!

Let me hear from you people. Email your answers to for your chance to win!

     Have a great week!

Another Freebie!

GOOOD MOORning romancers, writers, smut peddlers and gutter snipes! It’s a glorious morning in sunny Florida, well...except the sun isn't up yet. I've been having a great time here, even though I've been busier than a one-armed paper hanger in a butt kicking contest.

As I mentioned before, I've been here helping a good friend of mine cope with a rather serious shoulder surgery. When one lives on a ranch with eighteen horses, fifteen dogs (seven of which are only nine weeks old), and six cats, is it any wonder the poor woman needs a helping hand? So yes, I've been busy, but happy.

So happy that I have decided that I am going to move to Florida! Since being here I have fallen in love with this little spot on the map. The tropical flora and fauna, the friendly faces and most importantly, the peace and quiet, something that I never get in Atlanta. I've decided I want that, badly. Okay, the hot redneck men running around with next to nothing on. Riding on horses bareback along the side of the road doesn't hurt either.

Today I am posting another freebie story. I know, I know, I’m overdue for one, but I finally got it. However, there is a reason.

Not too long ago I submitted a novel to a publisher that I really, really wanted to work with. This was a novel that I worked on and worked on. It was a labor of love. It was shot down and none too nicely I might add. Yeah, it hurt. Fuck, it hurt a lot. After that…well let’s just say the voices in my head went away. Silence. Nothing. Nada.

I tried several times with no results. I decided not to push it and see what happened. Some of you may remember that I did a post of Facebook saying that I wasn't going to write anymore because it wasn’t worth the time I put into it. That was because nothing was coming; just dead silence.

So I decided to push it and see what happens. Trust me, it wasn't good. Real crap, if I were to be completely honest. I let it rest feeling totally frustrated. Then yesterday…I was trying to push through and do a short for F. Leonora Soloman, who had requested a short for her upcoming anthology. It was a struggle. I used to be able to whip out five-thousand words without a problem. Bam, a one day deal and done. I tried everything. It was utterly useless. What I had written was so bad that it was painful to re-read.

Determined, I put on some music. Hit YouTube for inspiration. Since I was doing something different, a horse type story I put on some K.D. Lang. Then there it was… a song that she did in conjunction with Jane Siberry, Calling All Angels. I had completely forgotten about that tune. I remember loving it all those years ago. Guess what? I heard a voice. It was faint at first. I listened again to the song and the voice came through loud and clear.

The story flowed easily. In under an hour I had it. I waited to re-read it just to make sure it wasn't total shit. Then I read it again. You be the judge. I have posted it here as a free read and a thank you to everyone who has pushed and supported me through this difficult time in my writing. While reading this short story I suggest that you follow the link and listen to this wonderful piece of music as you read it to get the full impact. I only ask that you let me know how you liked it. Either here or on Facebook or Goodreads or where ever.

Calling All Angels with K.D. Lang and Jane Siberry

A quick side note here. If you have not picked up a copy of Hawk ‘n’ Harley please do so. It is going to fund my move to Florida. Yeah, I’m not above begging.

Best Selling Author on Amazon? Really?

The date? June 25, 2013. That was the release date for Hawk ‘n’ Harley. This was
my first stand alone, self-published piece. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would make it into the top ten on Amazon, so you can imagine when K.c. Wells informed me that I was number four, I nearly fell out of my chair. So, thank you kind people for your wonderful support. I will continue to strive to do even better in the future.

                         Hawk 'n' Harley
Here is a link if you need a copy!

To prove this I will be releasing another story, a little longer this time, in the very near future. If you liked Hawk, then you’ll love Sasquatch. Yep, that is the title and the name of one of the main characters. I promise I will have a full blurb for you next week. Let’s just say that there is some very hot, real man-to-man sex in this one. Blistering.

I am currently in Central Florida helping a dear friend out. There are so many good looking red-neck men running around here you can’t swing a cat by the tail without hitting one, I swear. The plot stallions are running wild. (There’ll be no bunnies for me!) I never thought I would write a cowboy or horsey type story, but I’m rethinking that idea. Some things are coming to mind. Anyone want to see a story along those lines?

So no one wants to see more of Hawk 'n' Harley? Last chance to leave comments if you do!

     Till next week...

     Max  ;-)
